HATIPOGLU: ''WE CALL ON THE STATE TO REVEAL THOSE FORCES KILLING HABLEMITOGLU AND OTHER INTELLECTUALS''

ANKARA - All Academicians' Association (TUMOD) Director General Tahir Hatipoglu has said, ''we call on our state to reveal those forces which killed Associate Prof. Necip Hablemitoglu and the other intellectuals of Turkey.''
Releasing a statement on Thursday to mark the first anniversary of killing of Hablemitoglu, Hatipoglu said, ''these dark forces have always targeted scientists, writers and journalists since they were in favor of the people, science and enlightenment. Unfortunately, their murderers could not be unveiled so far. Although a year has elapsed since killing of Hablemitoglu, those responsible for his killing could not be found yet. We believe that the state has the power to capture them. Despite promises of prime ministers, ministers and security officials, these murderers are tried to be forgotten.''
''Murderers cannot and should not intimidate scientists. There is not any other remedy for the future of our country. We call on our state to reveal those forces which killed Hablemitoglu and the other intellectuals of Turkey,'' he added.
Associate Prof. Dr. Hablemitoglu from the Ankara University was killed in an armed attack in front of his house in Cankaya district of Ankara on December 18, 2002.
