LEFKOSA - U.S. Department of State Special Coordinator to Cyprus Thomas Weston met with Republican Turkish Party (CTP) leader Mehmet Ali Talat in TRNC on Wednesday.
Speaking to reporters before the meeting, Talat said that Weston would go to Ankara from Cyprus and they would ask the contribution of the U.S. regarding the solution of Cyprus issue.
''The target of May 2004 is put forward as a very realistic target. A government has to be formed to find a solution till that date and the U.S. and EU should support that so that we can sort out the problem altogether,'' Talat commented.
Upon questions about TRNC President Rauf Denktas's being the negotiator in talks, Talat said that the constitution foresaw the government to carry out the talks and he explained his views about the issue to Denktas.
Talat said that the only party which could form the government was CTP.
