ANKARA - The Joint Follow-up committee which was formed between Turkey and the EU Commission to monitor projects and programmes within the scope of Turkey-EU financial cooperation, completed its first meeting on Monday.
Issuing a statement about the meeting, Secretariat General for EU Affairs said that the implementation of programmes and projects were generally considered as sufficient during the meeting.
''The results of the meeting show that Turkey is in great leap forward in use of financial aid,'' said the Secretariat General, noting that the issues related to financial cooperation programme and projects carried out between Turkey and the EU were taken up within the scope of the ''Synthesis Follow-Up Report,'' and ''Country Assessment Report.''
Totally 50 projects worth of 630 million euro including 32 MEDA projects, 17 projects, which have been carried out within the scope of pre-accession financial co-operation, and rehabilitation project for Marmara quake-stricken region were assessed during the meeting.
The meeting was important as Turkey's capacity to use EU aid was evaluated and as its results would be presented to the EU Commission.
