ANKARA - A memorandum of understanding about fight against crime and criminals has been signed between Turkey and Mongolia.
Justice and Interior Minister Tsend Nyamdorj of Mongolia, who is currently paying an official visit to Turkey, paid a visit to Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu on Monday.
Following the meetings between Turkish and Mongolian delegations, Aksu and his guest signed the memorandum of understanding about fight against crime and criminals.
The memorandum of understanding envisages co-operation between the two countries in prevention of illegal migration and human smuggling, fight against terrorism and training.
Speaking at the meeting, Interior Minister Aksu said, ''during our meetings, we have seen that both countries are determined to fight against terrorism. Our countries have agreed that international co-operation was required to eradicate terrorism.''
''There has already been a co-operation agreement between our countries in training of our staff. 12 Mongolian offers have received training at the Turkish War Academies so far. 27 Mongolian students have begun studying at the Police Academy,'' he added.
Meanwhile, Justice and Interior Minister Tsend Nyamdorj said in his part that co-operation had been continuing between the two states for 35 years.
Nyamdorj added that co-operation had begun developing rapidly in the last decade.
Later, Nyamdorj and the accompanying delegation paid a visit to Security Director General Gokhan Aydiner.
Nyamdorj also visited Turkish Academy for Fight Against Illicit Drugs and Organized Crimes (TADOC), and received information from TADOC director Celal Bodur about activities of the academy.
