BAKU - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said, ''the deceased Haydar Aliyev's ideal was a single nation and two separate states. I believe that the Turkish would will preserve this understanding.''
Prime Minister Erdogan came to Azerbaijani capital Baku on Monday to attend the funeral of former President Haydar Aliyev of Azerbaijan, who passed away on December 12, 2003.
Responding questions of journalists at the airport, Prime Minister Erdogan said, ''the deceased Aliyev's ideal was a single nation and two separate states. I believe that the Turkish would will preserve this understanding.''
Recalling that Aliyev had attributed great importance to Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project, Prime Minister Erdogan highlighted the true significance of bilateral relations between Turkey and Azerbaijan.
''Now, we should turn this understanding of brotherhood into a solidarity between our countries. We will expand all efforts to develop our relations with President Ilham Aliyev,'' he added.
