ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin said on Monday that everybody should respect will of Turkish Cypriot people.
When a journalist wanted Sahin to evaluate results of elections in TRNC, he said democracy was a compromise regime, stressing that there was a serious polarization between the ruling and the opposition before the elections.
Sahin said, ''with the elections, TRNC people said what they wanted. Everybody should respect will of Turkish Cypriot people. Now that, as a requirement of democracy, the ruling and the opposition parties should absolutely be in dialogue regarding future of TRNC and its people. I think that the parties should sit at table to set up a strong government.''
When asked whether or not there was possibility of renewal of elections, Sahin said TRNC parliament would take the decision, yet that he did not consider that such an election would be held in the near future.
