ANKARA - World Bank Vice-President for Europe and Central Asia Region Shigeo Katsu has said that Turkey had a great economic potential.
Responding questions of the A.A correspondent on Sunday, Katsu, who has been paying a visit to Turkey for the first time since his appointment, said that macro-economic program had been implemented in Turkey as it was planned earlier.
Underlining that there was not any problem in macro-economic part of the program, Katsu said that Turkey should record further progress in some structural reforms including modernization, social life and management of public sector.
Noting that he would meet with Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the other high-level Turkish officials, Katsu said that the meetings would focus on financial assistance of the World Bank under the country assistance strategy.
Katsu stressed that they would provide Turkey with necessary financial assistance.
Meanwhile, decrease in cost of some loans of the World Bank to Turkey is expected to be brought onto agenda during Katsu's four-day visit.
Katsu, who came to Turkey yesterday, is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish bureaucrats on the issues of the Country Economic Memorandum (CEM), Turkey's economic program and the World Bank's assistance.
He will attend the CEM conference and visit some projects supported by the World Bank.
