ISTANBUL - Istanbul Police Chief Celalettin Cerrah said on Saturday that security forces had impounded 2.3 tons of heroin in Istanbul since the beginning of the year.
Cerrah said that police seized 2.3 tons of heroin, 5 kg of cocaine, 499 kg of morphine, 123 kg of opium, 1.648 liters of acid anhydride and 1 million 673 thousand 473 drug pills, and added that 1 thousand 454 people were detained in operations in Istanbul since January 1, 2003.
