ANKARA - The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) has said that 2 thousand 910 new companies and 2 thousand 942 new firms with a total capital of 933 trillion 184 billion 611 million Turkish lira (TL) were established in October of 2003 while 1 thousand 68 firms were liquidated.
Releasing a statement, the DIE said on Saturday that 3 thousand 878 companies had increased their capital by 1 quadrillion 693 trillion 840 billion 86 million TL and two companies with total capital of 2 trillion 760 billion TL had changed their status.
405 companies with total capital of 5 trillion 16 billion 883 million TL were liquidated in the same period.
Numbers and fields of activity of the newly established companies are as follows: 1 thousand 40 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 727 manufacturing; 281 construction; 239 real estate services; 253 transport, storage, communication; 92 hotels and restaurants; 51 medical and social services; 69 finance; 28 mining and quarrying; 44 education; 45 other community, social and personal services; 23 agriculture, hunting, forestry; 11 electricity, gas, water; 5 fishing and 2 administrative activities of government, defense obligatory social security.
Meanwhile, numbers and fields of activity of the liquidated companies are as follows: 155 manufacturing; 84 wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, and household items; 72 construction; 44 real estate services; 16 transport, storage, communication; 11 finance; 9 medical and social services; 5 education; 4 hotels and restaurants; 2 agriculture, hunting, forestry; 2 mining and quarrying; and 1 other community, social and personal services.
