ANKARA - Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Italian counterpart Romano Prodi will inaugurate Istanbul-Ankara lane of Bolu Mountain Tunnel on Edirne-Istanbul-Ankara expressway tomorrow, announced the Turkish Highways DG.
According to a statement by the Highways DG, the ceremony will be held at 9.30 a.m. tomorrow.
Bolu Mountain Tunnel is the only uncompleted section of the Edirne-Istanbul-Ankara expressway.
Bolu Tunnel is a twin-tube motorway. The right tube on Istanbul-Ankara lane is 2,788 meters long and the left tube on Ankara-Istanbul lane is 2,954 meters long. There will be three lanes on both directions.
It will take about three and a half hours by car between Ankara and Istanbul after both directions of the Bolu Mountain Tunnel are opened to traffic.
