LEFKOSA - Seven political parties will compete in the general election to be held in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on Friday.
These seven political parties are National Unity Party (UBP), Democrat Party (DP), Nationalist Peace Party (MBP), Cyprus Justice Party (KAP), Peace and Democracy Movement (BDH), Solution and EU Party (CABP) and Republican Turkish Party (CTP).
Also, two independent deputies are taking part in the general election.
UBP is led by TRNC Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu while DP is led by State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Serdar Denktas. These two parties are forming the current coalition government.
The leader of CTP is Mehmet Ali Talat, the leader of BDH is Mustafa Akinci, the leader of CABP is Ali Eren and the leader of KAP is Oguz Kalelioglu.
The MBP has two co-presidents namely Ertugrul Hasipoglu and Ali Riza Gorgun.
A total of 141 thousand 471 voters will cast votes on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Higher Election Board (YSK) Chairman Taner Erginel guessed that the result of the election could be announced around 11 p.m. on Sunday.
