TRABZON - Trabzon Governor Aslan Yildirim said on Friday that if Turkey and Ukraine made good use of their geographical peculiarities, a big market could be created.
Autonomous Republic of Crimea Economy Minister Kulish Vladimir and accompanying delegation, currently in Trabzon for the Ninth International Trade Fair, visited Yildirim.
Yildirim said that there were good relations between Trabzon and Ukraine and stated that Trabzon's exports to Ukraine amounted to 1 million 255 thousand U.S. dollars in 2002 and this figure increased to 1 million 954 thousand U.S. dollars in the first eleven months of 2003. He added that this increase was pleasing, but it was not sufficient.
Stating that social and commercial relations should be further improved with agreements, Yildirim said that Crimea-Trabzon Friendship Association could be set up.
Vladimir said that Crimea's trade volume was 400 million U.S. dollars and Turkey's share was 5 percent in this figure and stated that trade with Trabzon was not sufficient and they came to the city with projects and offers.
Vladimir said that Crimea was located on Silk Road like Trabzon and noted that they should exert efforts to revive together the Silk Road.
