NO CASUALTIES ACCORDING TO FIRST INFORMATION, GOVERNOR AKPINAR
AGRI - "There were no immediate reports of any deaths according to first assessments," Halil Ibrahim Akpinar, the Governor of eastern city of Agri said on Sunday following a moderate earthquake that occurred in the morning.
Akpinar told A.A. correspondent that the epicenter of the quake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, was Tutak town.
"Some houses were damaged in the quake according to the preliminary information," Akpinar indicated.
Akpinar said search and rescue teams were dispatched to the region after the quake.
On the other hand Bulent Osman Agaoglu, the Mayor of Tutak town, said there were some cracks in houses in Tasbudak, Yukari Kosk, and Cobanova villages.
Agaoglu said a crisis center was established immediately after the quake and Civilian Defense Directorate Search and Rescue Teams left for the villages to make assessments.
