NEW YORK - Turkish Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Saturday that foreign investors (who he met in New York) have interest and positive point of view about Turkey.
Unakitan held a news conference at conference center of finance institution Merrill Lynch in Manhattan on the second day of his visit to New York.
Assessing his meetings with foreign investors, Unakitan said he visited London and New York to give information to foreign entrepreneurs and to respond to their questions about Turkey.
Unakitan said foreign investors were interested in privatization in Turkey and particularly wanted to learn why electricity privatization was postponed. "The foreign investors welcomed privatization of Halk Bankasi and continuation of structural reforms," he noted.
"They have a very positive point of view about Turkey. Although this is election year, they do not see a very big election risk in Turkey. There is great interest in Turkey. They admire the reforms and the developments in Turkey in the past 4 years," Unakitan said.
Asked how the developments in Iraq affected Turkish economy, Unakitan said every development in Iraq closely interested Turkey.
