COURT OF JUSTICE FOR TERRORISM
Brussels-based Court of Justice of the European Communities has ruled that the terrorist organization PKK could object to its inclusion in the EU`s list of terrorist organizations. The Court of Justice also set aside the order of the Court of First Instance which dismissed Osman Ocalan`s application on behalf of the PKK as inadmissible.

"IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS"
Republican People`s Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal has said that Iraqi President Jalal Talabani`s proposal to act as a mediator between Turkey and the terrorist organization PKK was totaly unacceptable. "Instead of making such proposals, Iraqi authorities should ban activities of PKK," he said.

"USA WANTS TO SPLIT IRAQ FOR OIL"
Cevat Ones, former deputy undersecretary of the National Intelligence Agency (MIT), stated that the Kurdish people wanted to make "Kirkuk" the capital city by conducting an ethnic cleansing.
Noting that Iraq was split in order to keep the aggression going on in the Middle East, Ones said, "you are weakening by stimulating division and aggression. Weak groups and little states established afterwards, have to come under the dominion of the occupier. That is what is done in Iraq as well. USA wants to make use of this oil. Clashes will continue".

PKK CONFESSOR TURNS OUT TO BE A DRUG DEALER
Orhan Tekin, whose name was mentioned in the controversial indictment of the "Semdinli" case, was arrested because of drug dealing.
Tekin was detained in Istanbul while he was preparing to submit 46.5 kg of hashish to the markets.

SHOCKING PROPOSAL TO SUPREME COURT OF APPEALS
In the Semdinli case, the lawyers of the noncommissioned officers who were sentenced to 39 years, suggested the Supreme Court of Appeals to overrule the decision as it would give morale to the Armed Forces.
The lawyers of the defendants Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz defended their clients with a model of the incident, and stated once more they were not responsible for the bombing.
The lawyers who demanded their clients to be released told the Supreme Court of Appeals, "this case served as a propaganda tool for PKK. We demand release of our clients to remedy the morale of the state forces fighting terrorism."

UN CONTROL FOR KIRKUK
The government will explain its Kirkuk Plan during the parliamentary debate on January 23rd. Later, the United States will also be informed on the plan. According to the government`s plan, Kirkuk`s special statute should be maintained, its control should be given to the UN for 10 years and the referendum should be postponed.

KURDS AND TURKS IN NORTHERN IRAQ ARE OUR RELATIVES
FM Abdullah Gul said, "Iraq is a separate country, but this does not mean that we will remain indifferent to the future of our relatives there." During a debate on Iraq at the parliament, Gul announced Turkey`s position as follows: "we will follow the developments when our relatives in north of Iraq are under pressure. If our close relatives, Turkmens, are under pressure today, we will monitor the developments and show close interest in them. Kirkuk is a small Iraq. Iraq`s tranquility is closely related with Kirkuk."

ONLY WITNESS OF PLANE CRASH CANNOT BE BROUGHT TO TURKEY
Bringing Abdulkadir Akyuz, the only person who survived the plane crash in Baghdad, to Turkey has caused a problem. It is claimed that Akyuz, who is being treated at a hospital in U.S. base, has lost his memory. The ambulance plane demanded for his transfer to Turkey has been provided. However, the U.S. executives do not allow this plane to land in Baghdad.

FM GUL: "THE IRAQ ISSUE HAS DIFFERENT ASPECTS"
The parliament decided to hold a "closed session" on the recent developments in Iraq next Tuesday. FM Abdullah Gul, stressed the current situation in Iraq was not the picture Turkey wanted to see and said there were many facts about Iraq that could not be discussed openly. Gul expressed that the situation in Iraq had different aspects. Meanwhile, stating that the referendum in Iraq was a critical step for an independent Kurdish state, the opposition parties criticized the government for reacting late.

TURKMENS IN FURY
Turkmens gathering in front of the U.S. Embassy in Ankara called Turkish Armed Forces to enter Kirkuk using "its rights stemming from the Lausanne treaty." Turkmens who left a black wreath in front of the embassy, blamed the government of being insensitive to the Turkmen massacre in Iraq.

END TO LIFE WITH "DISCOUNTS"
The draft prepared to arrange the "discounts" in textile sector was expanded in a way which will even cover the supermarkets and markets on the street. According to the draft, there will be only two discounts throughout the year.

"DOGAN AWARD" SUBMITTED TO 133 COMMUNICATION STUDENTS
Successful students of the "18th Young Communicators` Competition", which was attended by a total of 857 students from 27 universities throughout Turkey, were presented with awards at a ceremony held yesterday.
While 133 students were entitled to a prize in the competition, Selcuk University of central Anatolian city of Konya appeared to be the most successful university.

PARLIAMENT TO DEBATE DEVELOPMENTS IN IRAQ
The parliament has accepted the motion submitted by the Justice & Development Party (AKP) and the Republican People`s Party (CHP) with the request of holding a debate on recent developments in Iraq and Kirkuk. The parliament will hold a special session on January 23rd. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said in his address to the parliament that they would protect Turkmen people.

PARLIAMENT REJECTS CENSURE MOTION AGAINST GUL
The parliament has rejected the censure motion against Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul. Earlier, the Motherland Party (ANAVATAN) submitted a censure motion accusing him of mismanaging the foreign policy.

WE PROTECTED KURDS IN HALABJA, WE CANNOT
REMAIN INDIFFERENT TO TURKMENS
Developments in Iraq and Kirkuk were debated at the parliament yesterday. Earlier, PM Erdogan said, "Iraq has become more prior than the EU". Speaking on behalf of the government, FM Abdullah Gul said that Turkey sees all ethnic groups living in Iraq as "brothers". Turkey, which sheltered the Kurds in the region during the Halabja massacre, cannot remain indifferent to the oppression of the Turkmens today, he stressed.

BDDK TO DEAL WITH CREDIT CARD LIMIT TRAP
The Banking Regulation & Supervision Agency (BDDK) has launched initiatives to prevent credit card users from being unjustly treated for their credit card debts. The agency is discussing a draft regulation within the scope of Credit Cards Law, and is getting prepared to impose several sanctions on banks which are giving credit cards and which are increasing the limits of the cards without the demand of the citizens. When the regulation goes into force, the limit of a card cannot be more than two-folds of the net monthly income of the customer in the first year. And, it will be limited with four-folds of his/her net monthly income in the second year.

OYAKBANK TO BE SOLD TO THE BRITISH
Army Assistance Agency (OYAK) speeded up the sale of Oyakbank to avoid the criticisms that it is the "bank of soldiers" during Turkey`s EU membership process. It has been stated that negotiations with French Credit Agricole were interrupted due to the adoption of the resolution on so-called Armenian genocide. However, an agreement with British Standard Chartered is likely.

USA TO CLOSE MAHMOUR CAMP
The initiatives of Turkey against the terrorist organization PKK have started to bear fruit. The USA staged an operation against Mahmour camp for the first time, and now it has announced that it will close the terror camp. Meeting PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Nicholas Burns, the U.S. Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs, said that the operation on Mahmour camp was the first step against the PKK. Burns noted that this was just the beginning of serious steps aiming to close the camp. Erdogan said that Turkey expects concrete steps from the USA against terrorist organization PKK. On the other hand, Erdogan gave a message to the USA that "relations will be harmed" in case of any resolutions on the so-called Armenian genocide allegations.
