GUL: DOCUMENTS ABOUT UZAN FAMILY SENT TO WASHINGTON
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that documents about Uzan family were sent to Washington. Holding a press conference on Turkey's signing United Nations Convention Against Corruption, Gul said that all documents about Uzan family were conveyed to Washington Embassy of Turkey.

AUSTRALIAN CONSULATE CLOSED
Australian Consulate General in Istanbul was closed following the terrorist attacks in Istanbul. It was not definite when the Consulate General will be reopened. The tasks of the Consulate will be carried out by the Australian Embassy in Ankara.

TURKEY LAST PASSENGER IN BAGHDAD TRAIN
The American administration didn't firstly include Turkey in the list of countries which will take part in giant tenders that will be opened in Iraq. When Ankara put pressure, Turkey entered among the 63 countries at the last minute. U.S. Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz announced the 63 countries which will play a role in reconstruction of Iraq by taking part in 26 tenders worth of 18.7 billion dollars that will be opened in Iraq.

AK PARTY DOES NOT WANT TO LIFT PARLIAMENTARY IMMUNITY
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) which opened the way to trial for former prime minister Mesut Yilmaz and five other former ministers, opposed the lifting of parliamentary immunity. AK Party members of the Commission on Parliamentary Immunity said that they were against lifting of the parliamentary immunity until the independence of judiciary is totally provided.

CORRUPTION ADDED TO U.N. LAW
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that Turkey was one of the first countries that signed the United Nations Convention Against Corruption. Gul added that recognition of bribery and embezzlement crimes of officials of banking and private sector on international field was added to the convention upon Turkey's proposal.

AIR CORRIDOR AGREEMENT WITH GREECE
Turkey and Greece have reached an agreement on the problem of air corridors in Aegean which has been continuing for years. According to the new agreement, five new air corridors will serve on Aegean air space. Two of them will pass from northern Europe to Turkey via Aegean and three of them will be directed to Greece.

PRESIDENT SEZER'S HUMAN RIGHTS MESSAGE
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer said in his message upon December 10 Human Rights Day that Turkey aimed to make respect to human rights an inseparable part of political and social culture. ''We can't only be satisfied with undertaking legal regulations to this end, we must put into practice fully the regulations in the field of human rights and we must broaden human rights consciousness,'' Sezer said.

AKP INSISTS ON PARLIAMENTARY IMMUNITY
Parliamentary Commission on Parliamentary Immunity took a decision despite the opposition of the Republican People's Party (CHP) to maintain the immunities as they were and that there was no necessity for constitutional amendment in this issue. AKP deputies defended the view that ''there are obstacles in front of trial of military officers, judiciary members and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) members. All these immunities should be lifted if the parliamentary immunity is going to be lifted.''

ERDOGAN'S MESSAGES CAN'T BE SHARED IN TRNC
When Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that ''we are not in favour of the status-quo in Cyprus and we are not in favour of giving Cyprus in order to save ourselves,'' newspapers supporting opposition parties made the first part of his statement as the title, while the newspapers supporting the government made the second part of his statement as the title of their papers.

CHAOS IN IZMIR ON HUMAN RIGHTS DAY
When 1,500 persons who gathered in Konak square in western Izmir province on Human Rights Day wanted to walk to the governor's office, a chaos was seen. The rapid deployment teams tried to stop the demonstrators. Meanwhile the results of the survey carried out by Izmir Bar are interesting: children face brute force of their parents, wives face that of their husbands, men face brute force while performing military service and the people face brute force in police stations.

TURKEY ON AUCTION LIST
Although Paul Bremer, the U.S. civilian administrator for Iraq, prepared a list without Turkey for the auction to be held for the reconstruction of Iraq, Turkey gained the right to attend auctions with the pressure of U.S. President George Bush.

TURKEY REACHED ITS AIM ON GROWTH RATE IN NINE MONTHS
The State Institute of Statistics (DIE) announced that the growth rate became 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2003. Meanwhile, the growth rate in the first nine months of the year became 5.2 percent.

FILE OF UZAN FAMILY IN U.S.
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said that Turkey launched initiatives regarding members of Uzan family. Recalling that the issue would be evaluated within the scope of related agreements between Turkey and the United States, Gul said that details would be given by Justice Ministry.

LIST PLEASES TURKEY, ANGERS EUROPE
The names of more than 60 countries, which can attend auctions worth of 18.6 billion dollars that the United States planned for reconstruction of Iraq were officially published. Turkey was included in the list at the last moment, while exclusion of countries such as France, Germany and Russia that were against Iraq war caused harsh reactions.

FINANCIAL CONSTITUTION ADOPTED AT PARLIAMENT
The draft law which is called financial constitution and brings tight control to public expenses was adopted at Parliament yesterday. Public Finance Administration and Inspection Law has become the first step of three-year budget.
