ANKARA - "2006 was a golden year for contractor services sector. The total value of 325 projects undertaken in 25 countries has reached 12,7 billion USD," State Minister Tuzmen said on Monday.
Tuzmen assessing the Turkish contractor services in foreign countries at a press conference said the sector growth in 2006 despite the war in Iraq (the biggest market for Turkish contractive services in 2005) was remarkable.
Stating that the growth in the Turkish contractor services in foreign countries despite the over valuable Turkish currency and the growth of the construction sector in the domestic market was highly encouraging Tuzmen said, "therefore we are raising the bar, and estimating our volume of business in 2007 as 15 billion USD."
Noting that the Turkish contractors entered the league of most important actors in the world contracting services, Tuzmen said 5 Turkish companies were listed among the 100 biggest contracting companies of the world in 2006.
