ANKARA - Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc left for Sudan on Monday as the formal guest of Ahmed Ibrahim al Tahir, Speaker of the Sudanese National Assembly.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga airport prior to his departure, Arinc said that this is the first formal visit to Sudan on parliament speaker`s level.
He noted that relations with Sudan recorded great progress in every area in recent years. He added that Turkey does not have any political problem with Sudan, noting that there are rooted relations between the two countries on many areas--especially on security, economy, health, agriculture and education.
Noting that he will meet al Tahir, Speaker of the Sudanese National Assembly, Arinc said that they will sign a memorandum of understanding which will include the responsibilities of parliaments of the two countries to further develop cooperation and relations.
Arinc will also meet Sudanese President Umar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir, Vice President Ali Osman Taha and Foreign Minister Lam Akol Ajawin.
Arinc will hold meetings with Turkish citizens and businessmen who are living in Sudan. He will also inaugurate a Turkish school in Sudan.
