ANKARA - Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Ministry has urged various energy departments to make an inventory of the underground energy resources in Turkey, particularly the mines, geothermal and water resources.
The researches carried out by the Mineral Research & Exploration DG (MTA) and Turkish Coal Enterprises DG (TKI) are expected to be completed till the end of this year.
New power plants, using lignite, will be constructed in the following five years, and start contributing to Turkey`s energy production.
MTA will explore new coal reserves in an area of 100 million square meters, and name new investment regions for coal and geothermal energy. Then, TKI will launch initiatives for production.
On the other hand, the State Hydraulic Works (DSI) DG will speed up hydro-electrical power plant investments.
