ANKARA - Terrorism, Cyprus issue and Turkey-European Union (EU) relations were discussed in Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Central Executive Board (MYK) meeting on Monday.
Sources said that effect of terrorist incidents to economy was assessed in the meeting under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan said that terrorism was not only an issue of Turkey and stated that where, when and how international terrorism would hit could not be determined generally.
Stating that terrorist incidents in Istanbul did not affect much the economy, Erdogan said that people should forget terrorism for economy. He added that the government would work for it.
Concerning elections which would be held in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) at the weekend, Erdogan said that there was not any change in Turkey's policy on Cyprus.
Erdogan said that Cyprus had strategic importance for Turkey and stated that Britain had two bases on the island.
Erdogan said that Foreign Ministry was carrying out a study on solution of Cyprus issue and stated that following elections in TRNC, they would work to form a consensus toward a solution.
Prime Minister Erdogan gave information about EU summit which will be held in Brussels between December 11 and 13 and recalled that Italy would hand over its EU term presidency to Ireland. He added that he would have bilateral meetings there.
