ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will pay an official visit to Japan as the guest of Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi between 16-21 December.
Gul had a consultation meeting on Monday with Turkish Japanese Business Council Co-Chairman Aslan Onel, Turkish-Japanese Foundation Chairman Cafer Tayyar Sadýklar, Foreign Economic Relations Council (DEIK) Executive Secretary Cigdem Tuzun and Foreign Ministry officials prior to his visit to Japan.
The sides focused on the new cooperation fields with Japan and evaluated the effects and results of the Turkish Year in Japan, in the meeting.
Gul will meet with Japanese Foreign Minister Kawaguchi, Japanese Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, Japanese Honourary Chairman of Turkish Year in Japan Prince Mikasa, Speaker of House of Councillors Huiroyuki Kurata and Chairman of House of Representatives Yohei Kono during his contacts in Japan.
Gul, who is also the Honourary Chairman of the Turkey Year in Japan, will also open the exhibition ''Three Big Empires in Turkey: Hittite, Byzantium and Ottoman'' in Osaka.
