Turkish Trucks Start To Unload Food In Iraq

YUMURTALIK - State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said on Sunday that drivers of 1,100 trucks, who brought goods to Iraq within the scope of United Nations (U.N.) Oil for Food Program, could not unload the goods in Mosul and Kirkuk and were stranded there, started to unload the foodstuff as of Sunday evening.
Tuzmen told reporters that the problem was solved thanks to his and Foreign Ministry's initiatives.
Turkish trucks started to unload the foodstuff in Mosul and Kirkuk as of Sunday evening, Tuzmen said.
Turkish trucks were kept waiting in Iraq for some time with the pretext that food depots in Mosul and Kirkuk were full.
Iraqi officials wanted the trucks to go to Baghdad, but the drivers did not want to go there for security reasons.
