Sener Says If There Are Things To Do In Trnc, They Won't Be Delayed Due To Elections

LEFKOSA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullatif Sener said on Sunday that if there were things to do in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), they would not be delayed due to elections because every delay had a cost.
Sener, who came to TRNC to hold official meetings, told reporters that he paid his first official visit to TRNC between April 17 and 21, 2003 and Economic and Financial Cooperation Protocol was signed during his visit.
An urgent measures package was put into practice under the protocol in order to develop TRNC economy, Sener pointed out.
Sener stated that implementation of the protocol was spread to three years and practices would be evaluated at the end of each year.
His visit was a part of that protocol, Sener said.
Sener noted that private incentive model was put into practice in order to attract investments to TRNC and an incentive agreement worth of 160 million U.S. dollars was signed.
Letters of credit would be given to officials of the projects which were encouraged, Sener pointed out.
Sener said that TRNC had an economic potential thanks to its labor force and resources and stated that TRNC economy had grown in 2002 and 2003.
Replying to a question, Sener said, ''if there are things to do in TRNC, we can't delay them due to elections because every delay has a cost. We should make good use of 2003 so that we can be strong in 2004.''
