LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Saturday, ''the United Nations (U.N.) should make a resolution that 'a Cyprus occurs by compromise of two states' even if it is made for 24 hours in order to sign an agreement.''
Denktas received a group of citizens from Tahtakale district of Lefkosa, where the December 21, 1963 incidents firstly occurred and from where Turkish Cypriots had to migrate due to attacks of Greek Cypriots.
TRNC President Denktas said that there were two politically equal and sovereign states and nations on Cyprus and this principle was the basis for an agreement.
Denktas said, ''an agreement can be made only by compromise of two states. The United Nations (U.N.) should make a resolution that 'a Cyprus occurs by compromise of two states' even if it is made for 24 hours in order to sign an agreement. Jurists say this.''
Founder state taking place in Annan plan would be subject to norms of European Union (EU) and supervision of new constitution which would be dominated by the majority under the plan, Denktas pointed out.
Denktas said, ''that is, all of the rights seem to be granted to you can be taken back. This is a very good intrigue. This is an intrigue made by making use of Turkey's wish to join EU. This is a trap for us and Turkey.''
Annan plan did not mention existence of two states and bi-zonal structure, Denktas noted.
Denktas stated that Annan plan diluted effective and de facto guarantor state status of Turkey.
Giving information about Annan plan, Denktas reiterated that the plan which did not include ''sine qua non conditions'' of Turkish Cypriots was unacceptable.
Denktas said that observers from non-governmental organizations in some countries had come to Turkey but any country sent official observers to TRNC due to the fear of Greek Cypriot side that ''TRNC would be recognized.''
