CIVILIAN COUP OR MILITARY RECOMMENDATION
Bulent Ecevit, the leader of Democratic Left Party (DSP) and former prime minister, had earlier told General Huseyin Kivrikoglu, the former chief of general staff who would retire at the end of August 2002, that a war in Iraq was approaching. Ecevit had said, ''we want to make use of your experiences. How about extending your term in office?'' Kivrikoglu answered Ecevit as saying, ''it is your appreciation.'' But then he said, ''I didn't accept the proposal. But, if they had extended my term in office, I would have stayed in the same post for two or three more months and then quitted.'' If the plan had been put into practice, General Hilmi Ozkok would have retired and he would have been replaced with General Aytac Yalman.

UZAN RUNS TO UNITED STATES
Yavuz Uzan, who is wanted by red bulletin, is staying in famous the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Manhattan, New York under the name ''Samuel Rogers Uzan.'' Turkish police wanted the United States to extradite Yavuz Uzan, whom they found thanks to his phone talks, but a result has not been taken since the documents have not been completed yet. It was claimed that Justice Minister Cemil Cicek demanded extradition of Yavuz Uzan from U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft during his visit to Washington paid last week. But, the minister has not confirmed it yet. Real identity of Yavuz Uzan is being hid since he is considered VIP guest.

FROM DENKTAS TO VERHEUGEN: ''HE IS NERVOUS''
Milliyet daily interviewed with Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas in Lefkosa. Denktas evaluated statements of European Union (EU) Commissioner for enlargement Guenter Verheugen. Denktas said, ''they convinced him. They said 'if the Greek Cypriot side is included in EU, TRNC will necessarily surrender.' They said that 'Denktas will be erased in elections'.'' Denktas said, ''Verheugen was deceived by them and brought a thorny issue onto agenda of EU. He got ill-tempered when his predictions did not come true. He is nervous because he has understood that a result as he wanted will not come out of the elections. He will be more ill-tempered after the elections.''

''THERE IS NO MOSQUE IN ISLAM''
Ankara Basic Court of Law No 23 made an interesting decision in the case filed by citizen Sakir Aydogdu when a demolished minaret fell on his car. The decision read, ''there is not any concept like mosque in Islam. Human beings can pray in very part of the world. Prophet Muhammad in deed asked people to demolish a masjid built during his time.''

HIS TRACE FOUND
Turkish intelligence has found out the house where Kemal Uzan, who is searched for months due to Imarbank case and who is wanted by red bulletin, is staying in California, United States. The Foreign Ministry has launched initiatives for extradition of Kemal Uzan. According to information shared by units of two countries, Uzan, who lived in San Francisco, is kept under control by U.S. officials. Everybody who is in contact with Uzan is being followed. The Foreign Ministry has applied for Uzan's extradition under the agreement with the United States on extradition of the guilty. Extradition can be possible after official procedures are completed.

SMALL TURKEY IN ITALY: IMPERIA
Number of Turks who go to Imperia, a town in north of Italy 10-12 years ago, exceeded 1000 people. A group of Central Anatolian people went to France years ago to work. When they could not get a permission to reside there, they proceeded to Imperia town of Italy. Turks, who undertake construction projects in this town as subcontractors or workers, created a big colony in Imperia when they brought their families to this town.

ALAOUITE TO BE GIVEN PLACE IN SCHOOL BOOKS
National Education Minister Huseyin Celik explained new projects and initiatives of his ministry to Sabah daily. Celik said that information about Alaoutie would be given within the framework of Religious Culture and Ethics lesson as of 2004.

ECEVIT: CYPRUS TO BE LOST
Former Prime Minister and leader of Democratic Left Party (DSP) Bulent Ecevit said the United States and European Union were in an effort to put Turkish under pressure, stating that Turkey should continue to react against Annan Plan and its supporters.
Ecevit said Turkey, by accepting to pay compensation in Loizidou case, unbelievably took the first step in losing Cyprus.
Ecevit said security of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) depended on Turkey and that security of Turkey depended on TRNC.
Stating that Loizidou case could pave the way for similar cases, Ecevit said, ''when this gate is opened, hundreds of Greek Cypriots will launch initiatives and possess their former territories.''
Ecevit said, ''the government says they got a victory. This is really amazing. Southern Cyprus and Greece have screams of victory. Our foreign minister says they got a victory. There is a mistake here.''

AK PARTY LAUNCHES DIPLOMATIC INITIATIVE
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) will focus on diplomacy in December.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is foreseen to pay a visit to the United States between November 28 and 30, 2004.
Details of the visit were discussed during Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal's visit to the United States which had taken place between December 1 and 4.

THIS IS NOT ELECTION BUT REFERENDUM
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said that those who were in favor or against Annan Plan were competing in the elections in TRNC. Denktas explained his views about general election to be held in TRNC on December 14 to Radikal's foreign policy expert Erdal Guven. Denktas said, ''I will not give authority if opposition wins. When Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was briefed, he saw the realities. He said that he was deceived.''

NEW PERIOD IN FIGHT AGAINST TERRORISM
Justice Minister Cemil Cicek said that a new period started in fight against terrorism with the United States. Cicek, who returned from the United States where he paid a visit as the official guest of U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft, said that statements like 'nobody should go to Turkey' meant passive support of people, institutions and countries to terrorism. Cicek stated that the main item of agenda of his visit was terrorism and he met with U.s. Attorney General, Defense Secretary and FBI Director.

LET'S LEAVE TERRORISM ALONE
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the world should not leave Turkey alone in countering terrorism. Prime Minister Erdogan wanted other European countries to take Britain's move to lift the ''travel ban'' to Turkey and said, ''don't leave us alone with a second terrorist incident and back and pave the way for terrorism. Terrorism and terrorist should be left alone.''

GROSSMAN DUE IN TURKEY
U.S. Undersecretary of State Department Marc Grossman for Political Affairs will come to Ankara on Tuesday. Diplomatic sources said on Saturday that Grossman would be received by Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul and meet with Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal. Following his meetings in Ankara, Grossman will proceed to Istanbul and visit blast sites in Istanbul with a delegation of counter-terrorism experts and receive information.

1100 TURKISH TRUCKS ARE UNABLE TO MOVE FROM MOSUL AND KIRKUK
Nearly 1100 Turkish trucks and lorries, which brought goods to Iraq within the framework of U.N. oil for food program, could not unload the goods as the depots in those cities are full, and thus unable to move from Mosul and Kirkuk.
Drivers of the trucks and lorries said they were in difficulty and wanted this problem to be solved.

THREE TURKISH COMPANIES ANNOUNCED AS ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR IN KAZAKHSTAN
Three Turkish companies got the award of the best foreign entrepreneur of the year in Kazakhstan.
K'CELL, GSM and Coca Cola Almaty Bothers and Turkuaz companies were elected as the best foreign investors of 2003.
Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev gave the awards to the Turkish companies.
