ANAMUR - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said on Saturday that they felt the pride of clasping with each other in a very sensitive and critical period. He said, ''the solution we are searching for should not shake peace and tranquility again, should respect the rights of both peoples and should be a solution in the basis of two states.''
Denktas sent a message to the ''Demonstration to Support Cyprus Case and Denktas'' held in Anamur town of southern Mersin province.
In his message Denktas stressed that people of Anatolia were aware of the tricks played in Cyprus against Turkish Cypriots, and that their raising voice against the tricks added morale and strength to their cause.
Stating that Annan plan would not bring a solution, Denktas said, ''because the plan envisages breaking Turkish Cypriots from the motherland and alienating them.''
Denktas said the plan foresaw uprooting the most fundamental legal and vital rights of Turkey in Cyprus, stressing that under the plan Turkish Cypriots would be separated from the motherland and would be put to the position of minority.
Denktas said peace came to the island with the Cyprus Peace Operation of the glorious Turkish army in 1974, and noted that, ''now that a healthy and just solution should be found.''
Stressing that there were two separate states and separate peoples on the island, Denktas said, ''those who want to drag Turkish Cypriots to a solution without a state aim at demolishing our republic and our flag. Turkish nation throughout the history witnessed such scenarios and knew how to overcome them. I don't have any doubt that similar things will happen.''
EROGLU: NOTHING CAN DEVIATE TURKISH CYPRIOTS FROM THEIR PATH
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu said on Saturday that nothing could deviate Turkish Cypriots from their path.
Eroglu sent a message to the ''Demonstration to Support Cyprus Case and Denktas'' held in Anamur town of southern Mersin province.
In his message, Eroglu stressed that the demonstration pleased Turkish Cypriot people.
Eroglu said, ''your sensitivity is giving us strength in this critical and important turning point.''
Turkish Cypriots who continued their struggle with determination to continue existence of their state had always received the biggest support from Turkey and Turkish people, Eroglu noted.
Eroglu added, ''this demonstration is a sign that motherland Turkey will never permit our national rights and interests to be harmed by intrigues on Cyprus. Turkish Cypriot people are grateful for Turkey's support and security it has ensured during and after the peace operation. Turkish Cypriot people are an inseparable part of the motherland and nothing can deviate us from the path we believe in.''
