Red Crescent's Fifth Humanitarian Aid Convoy Leaves For Iraq

ANKARA - Red Crescent's humanitarian aid convoy composed of four trucks and a communication equipment left for Iraq on Friday.
Red Crescent Deputy Chairman Ali Ulvi Bakir said that they decided to send humanitarian aid for 2.500 families which lost their houses due to war in Iraq upon the demand of Iraqi Red Crescent and Health Ministry.
Stating that the fifth and the last convoy left for Iraq today, Bakir said that Iraq extended financial aid worth of 10 million U.S. dollars to Turkey after Marmara quake. Bakir added that they were paying debt to Iraq with those aids.
The equipment includes five thousand blankets, two thousand mattresses, 500 gas stoves, 500 medical equipment and 500 food packages which worth 60.861 U.S. dollars. Those materials will be distributed in Salahaddin and Arbil provinces of Iraq.
Bakir said that total amount of humanitarian aid which has been sent to Iraq so far has reached to 591.892 U.S. dollars.
Bakir added that humanitarian aid would also be sent to Kirkuk upon the demand of Iraqi Red Crescent.
