ANKARA - The regulation on ''learning of different languages and dialects spoken traditionally by Turkish citizens in their daily life'' has been amended.
The new regulation of the National Education Ministry was published in Official Gazette on Friday and entered into force. The new regulation lifted the previous regulation dated Sept. 20, 2002.
Here are the different regulations brought:
-These courses will also be bound by the conditions that are valid by foreign language courses.
-Courses will not be against the basic characteristics of the Republic, its inseparable integrity with state, country and nation which are stated in the Constitution.
-Existing institutions giving foreign language courses can open such courses.
-The condition saying that 'teachers of the courses should be Turkish citizens' has been cancelled. These personnel are not also obliged to have the qualities and conditions determined by Council of Education.
-Non-Turkish citizens can also be admitted to courses.
-Primary and secondary school students can also join the courses. The previous regulation foresaw that secondary school students could join the courses only at the weekends and in summer holidays.
-Those who don't go to school although they are at the age of going to school, won't be admitted to courses.
-The documents, which will be asked in registration, will be the same with the other courses.
-The condition that list of students participating in the course should be given to national education directorate in every term was lifted.
-Time of courses was changed from 08.00-22.00 to 07.00-24.00.
-Control of the courses will be made under the provisions of National Education Ministry Private Education Institutions Regulation.
