Mercan: Coe's Canceling Its Activities In Turkey Is Out Of Question

ANKARA - Ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Deputy Chairman and Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (COEPA) Turkish Group Chairman Murat Mercan has said, ''the Council of Europe's (COE) canceling its activities in Turkey is out of question.''
Releasing a written statement on Friday, Mercan said, ''there were some news stories in the press claiming that the COE had cancelled some of its activities in Turkey. COE has released a statement upon these allegations. In its statement, COE said that these news stories were baseless. COE said that right after the political crisis in Georgia and heinous terrorist attacks in Turkey, it had offered its personnel to postpone their official visits to these two countries as a precautionary measure of domestic security. COE said that the offer stemmed from the uncertainty on those days. It said that only one activity in Turkey was postponed due to a technical reason. COE added that its all activities in Turkey had been continuing as they were planned earlier.''
Mercan reiterated that COE's canceling its activities in Turkey was out of question.
