ANKARA - State Minister Guldal Aksit will go to Italy on Friday to attend 2003 European Year of People with Disabilities closing conference.
Releasing a written statement, State Ministry said on Thursday Aksit would attend 2003 European Year of People with Disabilities closing conference which would continue until December 7 in Rome, Italy.
Main topics of 2003 European Year of People with Disabilities and initiatives which are fulfilled and planned to be fulfilled in the European Union (EU) member countries will be taken up in the conference and positive activities made for integration of disabled people to social and economic life in general of Europe will be brought onto agenda.
Italian President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi will participate in the opening session of the conference. Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will be the council chairman of the conference.
Aksit will make a speech in the conference in which nearly 500 officials including 18 ministers and undersecretaries from 18 EU member and candidate countries will participate.
Politicians, representatives of disabled groups and academicians will also attend the conference.
