ANKARA - The securities account at banks increased 1.407 quadrillion Turkish Liras (TL) to 51 quadrillion 774.8 trillion TL on November 21, 2003.
The total securities account at banks was 50 quadrillion 367.5 trillion TL on November 14.
The Central Bank data show that there were a total of 50 quadrillion 949.7 trillion TL of securities including 31 quadrillion 121.2 trillion TL of securities and 19 quadrillion 828.5 trillion TL of securities over foreign currency in the deposit banks portfolio.
The securities over TL at deposit banks are composed of 3 quadrillion 911.5 trillion TL in treasury bonds, 26 quadrillion 726.7 trillion TL in state debenture bonds and 454 trillion TL in stocks.
A total of 1 quadrillion 70.4 trillion TL of foreign currency securities at these banks are abroad while there is a total of 18 quadrillion 656.3 trillion TL of state debenture bonds among the domestic securities.
The total securities account at the development and investment banks was 821.3 trillion TL.
BANKS' CREDIT VOLUME INCREASES BY 821.3 TRILLION TURKISH LIRAS
Banks' credit volume increased 821.3 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 55 quadrillion 199.2 trillion TL between November 14-21, 2003.
The total credit volume at banks was 54 quadrillion 378 trillion TL on November 14.
The credits given to financial sector were composed of 883 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 1 quadrillion 783.1 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
The credits given to non-financial sector were composed of 175.2 trillion TL of loans given by Central Bank, 47 quadrillion 730 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 4 quadrillion 627.9 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
TOTAL DEPOSITS AT BANKS INCREASE TO 147.7 QUADRILLION TL
Total deposits at banks increased 477.2 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 147 quadrillion 790.7 trillion TL as of November 21, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the total deposits were 147 quadrillion 313.5 trillion TL on November 14.
Excluding inter-bank deposits, the total deposits, which were 145 quadrillion 215.7 trillion TL on November 14, increased 46.7 trillion TL to 145 quadrillion 262.5 trillion TL on November 21.
The total foreign exchange deposits under total deposits at banks decreased 456.6 trillion TL from 72 quadrillion 225.1 trillion TL on November 14 to 71 quadrillion 768.5 trillion TL on November 21.
The total TL deposits increased 503.3 trillion TL to 73 quadrillion 494 trillion TL on November 21. The total TL deposits were 72 quadrillion 990.6 trillion on November 14.
The total TL deposits were composed of 39 quadrillion 803.3 trillion TL deposits at public banks, 32 quadrillion 985.7 trillion TL of deposits at private deposit banks and 458.5 trillion TL of deposits at foreign banks.
REPO TRANSACTIONS BETWEEN BANKS AND THEIR CUSTOMERS INCREASE
Repo transactions between banks and their customers increased by 144.7 trillion Turkish liras (TL) between November 21-28, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the repo transactions, which were 3 quadrillion 405.2 trillion TL on November 21, increased to 3 quadrillion 549.9 trillion TL on November 28.
Repo transactions among the financial organizations increased 95.3 trillion TL to 7 quadrillion 376.9 trillion TL on November 28. The total repo transactions amount was 7 quadrillion 281.7 trillion TL on November 21.
The reverse repo transactions among the financial organizations, which were 7 quadrillion 299.6 trillion TL on November 21, increased 98.6 trillion liras to 7 quadrillion 398.1 trillion TL on November 28.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE DEPOSIT ACCOUNTS INCREASE TO USD 68.4 BILLION
Total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks increased 108 million U.S. dollars to 68 billion 432 million U.S. dollars between November 18 and 25, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 68 billion 324 million U.S. dollars on November 18.
Foreign exchange deposits decreased 185 million U.S. dollars to 51 billion 903 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits decreased 122 million U.S. dollars to 49 billion 577 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits decreased 63 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 326 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market increased 2 million U.S. dollars to 528 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts decreased 31 million U.S. dollar to 16 billion 498 million U.S. dollars between November 25-December 2, 2003.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES DECREASE BY USD 1.02 BILLION
Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank decreased by 1.02 billion U.S. dollars between November 21 and 28, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 32 billion 351 million U.S. dollars on November 21, decreased to 31 billion 324 million U.S. dollars on November 28.
Total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations increased 352 million U.S. dollars from 12 billion 710 million U.S. dollars to 13 billion 62 million U.S. dollars between November 4 and 14.
The international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations increased 658 million U.S. dollars from 46 billion 36 million U.S. dollars to 46 billion 694 million U.S. dollars between November 7 and 14.
TURKEY REPAYS USD 49.57 MILLION IN FOREIGN DEBT BETWEEN DEC. 1-3
Turkey repaid a total of 49.57 million U.S. dollars in external debt between December 1 and 3, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the Treasury repaid 33 million U.S. dollars; the Central Bank repaid 12.22 million U.S. dollars, and the administrations with general and consolidated budget paid the remaining 4.35 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey has repaid 14 billion 445.65 million U.S. dollars in external debt since the beginning of the year.
Turkey repaid 847.51 million U.S. dollars in external debt in January, 1 billion 948.87 million U.S. dollars in February, 1 billion 57.93 million U.S. dollars in March, 915.06 million U.S. dollars in April, 1 billion 133.96 million U.S. dollars in May, 1 billion 936.25 million U.S. dollars in June, 1 billion 851.89 million U.S. dollars in July and 907.35 million U.S. dollars in August, 712.08 million dollars in September, 1 billion 498.42 million U.S. dollars in October and 1 billion 586.76 million U.S. dollars in November.
The total external debt repayments in 2002 had been 17 billion 365.18 million U.S. dollars.
