ANKARA - "Turkey never interferes in internal affairs of third countries. However, it may use its international rights in case a country harbors terrorists and turns a blind eye to their activities against Turkey," Turkish FM & Deputy PM Abdullah Gul said on Friday.
Asked if a probable operation in Kandil mountain (in northern Iraq) can be considered within this framework, Gul said, "everything is included; but there is also an international law and rights stemming from that. Turkey protects its legitimate rights accordingly."
In an exclusive interview with NTV channel, FM Gul responded to questions about fight against terrorist PKK organization and cooperation with the USA on the matter.
"We will do everything to halt terrorism," Gul said.
"It would be better that experts assess the situation since it is a technical question. We do nothing as show off or intimidation," Gul said.
Responding to a question about the coordination mechanism established (between Turkey and the USA) to fight against terrorism, Gul said, "we still have expectations and there are things to be done. Turkey expects more assistance from the USA."
Gul also noted that negotiations are underway to evacuate Mahmur camp (held by members of terrorist organization).
