MECCA - Saudi Arabian police detained private Turkish TV channel Kanal 7 crew members who were in Mecca to cover Hajj.
Sabri Celebioglu and Ilker Yilmaz, the 2 crew members of Kanal 7, were detained as they were walking around near Masjid al-Haram (Haram Sharif) with their cameras and microphone.
Despite the initiatives of executives of the Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate General, Celebioglu and Yilmaz were not released.
Efforts are still underway for the release of Celebioglu and Yilmaz whose cameras and equipment were also confiscated.
On the other hand, the number of Turkish hajjis who died on the holy lands where they went to fulfil their religious obligations rose to 40 since November 24th.
