HERE IS MADRASAH
People firstly have education in the Shariah Kulliye, (a complex of buildings adjacent to a mosque) in Damascus where 22 people who were captured in Syria and sent to Turkey received religious education, and then go to Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Hilmi Tugluoglu, who is a teacher with his wife Leyla in this madrasah bound to Al- Fatih University, told Hurriyet about this madrasah. This madrasah in Damascus is giving education in a three-storey building. Students who firstly receive religious education here are sent to Al-Azhar University in Egypt. Students are from every region of Turkey. Expenses of Turkish students in the madrasah where Tugluoglu couple give education are met by some foundations and persons. Key man Hilmi Tugluoglu told about how he met Azad Ekinci and Gokhan Elaltuntas, who organized attacks in Istanbul. Tugluoglu said, ''I met Azad Ekinci, with code name Ebu Nidal, in a wedding ceremony in Ankara. Azad told me that he would go to Syria and then to Dubai two months ago. Then, I didn't talk to him. Azad introduced me to Gokhan Elaltuntas.''

ONE GOAL TO UEFA AND ONE TO JUVE
Galatasaray soccer club of Turkey reproached Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) and Juventus of Italy for the political decision taken on the table during the European Champions League match. Galatasaray scored two goals against Juventus and won the match. When UEFA gave premium to terrorism and did not give up its decision to switch Galatasaray-Juventus match to a neutral venue, Galatasaray played in Westfalen Stadium in Germany and won a victory. Galatasaray continued its chance in the Champions League with two perfect goals of Hakan Sukur.

LETTER FROM MAYOR
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg sent a sentimental letter to family of Ahmet Ozdogan, who died with his wife Berta, in the attack on Neve Shalom Synagogue. Bloomberg wrote the letter as he was very affected from this incident. David Kalb, the chief rabbi of a synagogue in the United States, his two deputies and a representative of New York Municipality brought the letter to Ozdogan's family in Istanbul. In his letter, Bloomberg said that following the tragedy of September 11, 2001, the people of Turkey were a tremendous source of support for the City of New York. Bloomberg added, ''and, we will always be grateful for your kindness. Today, we offer you our support and solidarity during this most difficult time.''

RACIST, RELIGIOUS, DON'T MATTER FOR US
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that both racist terrorism and the religious and regionalist terrorism would be doomed by them and humanity till eternity.

LOIZIDOU GETS WHAT SHE WANTS
Turkey paid 1 million 120 thousand Euro compensation, including the principal money and the interest, to Greek Cypriot Titiana Loizidou under the decision of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). The decision about property was delayed to 2005. Turkey wanted the decision on ''giving back house of Loizidou'' to be taken up in 2005 the soonest.

END OF HODJA
The Supreme Court of Appeals ratified two years and four months of imprisonment given to Necmettin Erbakan, the leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP), in the case publicly known as ''lost trillion case''. Erbakan's political life ended. He will be sent to prison if his punishment is not suspended. Erbakan will serve 11 months and 6 days in prison if his punishment is not suspended due to some reasons like health problem.

TURKEY SAVES USD 2 MILLION EVERYDAY
Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they focused on domestic source in energy and this reserved two million dollars for Turkey everyday. Making a speech at AK Party group meeting, Erdogan noted the developments on energy field in Turkey and stressed that negotiations between Turkey and Russia was concluded as the way Turkey wanted. He said that mistakes that were made in the past were corrected with the agreement signed between BOTAS and Gazexport and the burden on public finance was eliminated.

VERHEUGEN EXCEEDS LIMITS
The European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen made an informative speech for Belgian Senate and said that insolubility in Cyprus would cost Turkey a lot, adding that they would recognize Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), only if opposition won the elections.

DIRTY CONFESSIONS
The European Union (EU) Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen said that insolubility in Cyprus would cost Turkey a lot. He claimed that Annan Plan was balanced and did not have any other alternatives, noting that in spite of Rauf Denktas, a peace process could start. He said that Denktas did not know anything and added that meetings were held between New York, Ankara, Athens and Lefkosa and decisions were taken behind Denktas.

COMPENSATION PAID
Turkey paid one million 120 thousand Euro compensation to Loizidou. Council of Europe Delegates Committee decided that when its time has come, they would examine the decision of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) on return of Loizidou to her home. The case would not constitute an example for the future.

AND ERDOGAN NAMES: RELIGIOUS TERRORISM
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who caused discussions after bomb attacks in Istanbul saying that ''association of Islam with terrorism makes him uneasy'', named terrorism for the first time yesterday: ''Religious terrorism.'' Erdogan said, ''any action targeting at innocent people is considered terrorism.'' Erdogan addressed his party saying, ''both racist terrorism and religious and regionalist terrorism will be doomed by us and humanity till eternity.'' Erdogan added that they were obliged to prevent terrorist gangs to continue their existence in some places where they were effective.

ANKARA PLEASED WITH LOIZIDOU DECISION
Turkey paid 1.12 million Euro compensation in Greek Cypriot Loizidou case and the Council of Europe delayed execution of European Court of Human Rights' decision on Loizidou's return to her property in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (ECHR) to 2005 and decided that ''the case should not constitute an example for other cases in regard with compensation.'' The Foreign Ministry is pleased with the decision.

END TO DOUBLE TAXATION
Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and Greek National Economy and Finance Minister Nikos Khristodoulakis signed agreement on prevention of double taxation between Turkey and Greece. Unakitan said that they completed their responsibilities regarding the sixth review by sending arrangements on tax incentives and free zones to Prime Ministry.

OZKOK: POLITICS AND RELIGION NOT COVERS EACH OTHER
Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok said that when religion was made a tool for political aims, violence appeared and he added that attacks in Istanbul showed the importance of secularism one more time. Attending Romania National Day reception at Ankara Hilton Hotel, Gen. Ozkok replied to questions of reporters regarding terrorist attacks in Istanbul. He said that events in Istanbul had religious motives, adding that religion and politics were two chemical materials and when they combined, all beauties of religion went away and in return violence came.

PKK ALSO DISCUSSED IN VISITS TO UNITED STATES
Justice Minister Cemil Cicek and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal started to hold meetings in Washington. Cicek, who said, ''Turkey's definition of terrorism complies with that of the United States, but it doesn't comply with that of European Union'', noted that Turkey had some demands from the United States regarding the terrorist organization PKK.

DENKTAS: ''TURKEY SAVES HONOR OF COURT AND GAINS TIME''
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas, who made a statement on the decision on Greek Cypriot Loizidou case, said that Turkish Republic was obliged to fulfil the requirement of decision to save the honor of the court. Insisting on settling property issue in Cyprus within the framework of Loizidou case meant destroying the solution of Cyprus issue, Denktas stressed. Denktas said that however, they had gained time to explain an issue which should totally be settled to concerned authorities by delaying execution of two articles of the decision which could prevent a compromise in Cyprus.
