ANKARA - Turkey never thinks of intervening in Iraq`s domestic affairs, said Namik Tan, spokesman for the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
In his weekly press briefing today, Tan said, "but regional developments closely concern Turkey, and Turkey cannot remain a spectator."
Turkey wants peace, tranquility and confidence to be ensured in Iraq, and it wishes Iraq would be in peace with its neighbors, he stated.
Tan noted that efforts are under way to contribute to solution of Iraq`s problems.
"This is Iraq`s domestic matter, and we cannot intervene in it," Tan said when commenting on the death sentence upheld for Iraq`s ousted leader Saddam Hussein.

"We respect UN resolutions. And we will set our forthcoming policies within this framework," he said answering a question on UN Security Council`s resolution regarding Iran`s nuclear program.
Tan added that Turkey continues talks with Iran to solve the problem through diplomatic means
