BANDA ACEH - Houses, build by Turkish Red Crescent in Banda Aceh after tsunami disaster, were delivered to their owners, AA correspondent reported on Tuesday.
Turkish State Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin and an accompanying Turkish Red Crescent team attended the ceremony held on this occasion.
Speaking at the ceremony, Sahin said, "we are here to share the sorrows of the inhabitants of Aceh and to remember the victims of tsunami."
Sahin recalled that Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the region immediately after the disaster, noting that, "prevention of such disasters is not possible. However we should be prepared against all disasters."
On the other hand Red Crescent Chairman Tekin Kucukali said Turkish Red Crescent arrived in the region immediately after the tsunami. He said, "more than 2.5 million Turkish citizens supported the campaign that was launched by the charity organization. We have constructed 1050 houses and a community center and repaired the mosques and the Ottoman cemetery."
