ANKARA - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul said on Tuesday that Turkey was determined to give every type of support to Georgia, adding that cooperation on military, security and economy would continue without disruption.
Gul received Georgian Ambassador to Turkey Tariel Lebanidze at Foreign Ministry.
Gul said that an extraordinary situation appeared in Georgia after November 2 elections and added that concluding this situation with understanding and maturity was very pleasing.
Noting that a new period started in Georgia, Gul said that Georgia should rapidly restore stability and start to solve its problems.
Gul said that they, as two countries sharing the same geography, had many joint projects. He added that Turkey attributed very much importance both to those projects and to bilateral relations depending on historical past.
Recalling that Georgia requested material support from the world regarding the election process, Gul said that Turkey said it would fulfil its responsibilities and it made commitments. He added that Turkey was determined to give every type of support to Georgia all the time, not only within election process.
Noting that Turkey would give material and spiritual support to solve problems of Georgia, Gul said that cooperation on military, security and economy fields would continue without any disruption.
Gul said that Turkish and Georgian representatives had meetings during Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) meetings in Maastricht and Turkey told Georgia that its support would continue.
Lebanidze conveyed Gul the friendship message of new administration in Georgia. In the message, the new administration underlined the importance of Turkey's friendship and conveyed its wish to see Turkey's support in new period.
