TAIPEI - A huge earthquake struck off Taiwan on Tuesday, sparking a tsunami warning for the Pacific, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre said.
The undersea earthquake measuring magnitude 7.1 struck at 8:26 pm (1226 GMT) with its epicenter 23 kilometers (14 miles) southwest of Hengchun in the southernmost tip of Taiwan, the United States Geological Survey said. It originated 22 kilometers under the sea.
