ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and Greek National Economy and Finance Minister Nikos Khristodoulakis signed on Tuesday agreement on prevention of double taxation.
Speaking in the ceremony, Unakitan said that economic and commercial relations between two countries would be further improved with that agreement.
Unakitan noted that economic and commercial relations between Turkey and Greece were below than the real potential.
''This agreement will contribute to improvement of such relations and help solution of problems that may stem from improvement of economic and commercial relations,'' Unakitan said.
Unakitan added that Turkish and Greek entrepreneurs would further improve bilateral relations.
Khristodoulakis defined the agreement as a ''delayed agreement'' and said that they had spent much time and exerted many efforts for the agreement.
The mentioned agreement was an important means for investments of Greek businessmen in Turkey, Khristodoulakis stated.
Khristodoulakis noted that the agreement would also contribute to Turkish businessmen who wanted to make investments in Greece.
Businessmen would no more be affected by extra tax burden, Khristodoulakis pointed out.
Stating that economies of two countries were developing, Khristodoulakis said that Greek economy had the biggest growth rate in European Union (EU).
Khristodoulakis pointed out that Turkey was also recording a high growth rate.
Noting that bilateral relations were below expectations and real potential, Khristodoulakis said that they aimed to offer new opportunities to both sides with that agreement.
Stating that they were in an effort to spread democracy and prosperity, Khristodoulakis noted that however, there were circles who wanted to overshadow it.
Khristodoulakis said that the agreement would be an answer to those circles, hoping that they would witness a better cooperation.
