GELIBOLU - Russian Consul General in Istanbul Alexandr Krivenko said that the construction of a Russian monument in Gelibolu would enhance relations.
Krivenko, who was assigned as Russian Consul General in Istanbul recently, and the accompanying delegation visited Gelibolu to make observations regarding the Russian Monument that is planned to be built in the memory of Russian officers and soldiers who escaped from the Russian revolution.
Meeting Gelibolu Mayor Cihat Bingol, Krivenko noted that Russian people would find the opportunity to learn their history better thanks to the monument.
Krivenko said it would also contribute to the development of Gelibolu.
Russian Consul General Krivenko also indicated that St.Petersburg and Gelibolu would be sister cities, which would foster economic cooperation.
Bingol and Krivenko visited the site where the monument will be built.
