ASHKHABAD - Turkey will be represented with a large group of executives in the funeral for Turkmen President Saparmurat Turkmenbasi, who died on Thursday of heart attack.
Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, FM Abdullah Gul, Environment & Forestry Minister Osman Pepe, Energy & Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler, many MPs, mayors and businessmen will participate in the funeral.
This wide and high-level participation from Turkey indicates the importance Turkey attaches to Turkmenistan.
Turkey, which has played great roles for reconstruction of this country after it gained its independence, thinks that no problems will occur in the transaction period.
Ankara also thinks that the candidate presidents to be nominated on Tuesday (December 26th) will not be persons who may have a negative impact on Turkish-Turkmen relations.
The funeral for Turkmenbasi will begin at 9.00 a.m. local time tomorrow.
Turkmenbasi died at the age of 66 after ruling Turkmenistan for more than two decades.
