Türkiye's Energy Minister Eyes Trilateral Gas Talks With Azerbaijan, Georgia

Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Güler confirmed that trilateral negotiations with Azerbaijan and Georgia on natural gas supplies are ongoing, with a key follow-up meeting scheduled for the following week in Istanbul.

Güler made the remarks after attending an Istanbul Chamber of Industry panel focused on Türkiye's long-term energy needs and sustainable growth. He stressed the importance of energy efficiency, domestic resources, and positioning Türkiye as a regional energy hub.

On a separate dispute over electricity pricing data, Güler said his ministry's figures came from the European Union while a counterpart group was citing OECD statistics. To avoid confusion, the two sides agreed to form a joint working group to reconcile the numbers.

Regarding the gas negotiations, Güler said the talks would culminate in a meeting that includes Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. "We will discuss the issue in a detailed way then," he added.
