ROME - Energy and Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler said on Tuesday that Turkey's strategic transit role in energy had been confirmed.
Guler delivered a speech in the Conference on Europe-Mediterranean Cooperation in the Energy Sector held in Italian capital Rome.
Energy and Natural Resources Minister Guler told A.A correspondent that he held very beneficial meetings during the conference.
Guler said that Turkey's strategic transit role in energy had been confirmed.
Participant countries focused on increasing demand for energy by increasing security of energy supply and reconstructing the sector, Guler pointed out.
Guler said, ''our country is of strategic importance for transfer of gas resources in Caspian basin, Middle East and South Mediterranean to European markets. Turkey-Greece-Italy Natural Gas Pipeline and Turkey-Bulgaria-Hungary-Austria Pipeline are prior projects. Project to integrate electricity systems of Turkey and Greece is being supported as a prior project serving regional interests.''
