ISTANBUL - Kemal Merkit and Kutlu Torunlar will join the 29th Lisboa-Dakar Rally from January 6th to 21st, 2007 as Jim Beam Turkish Team.
Merkit and Torunlar will compete in bike category together with 250 bikers.
Kemal Merkit is the only Turkish who saw the finish line of Dakar Rally.
"I raced many times in different rallies but Dakar Rally is the most fascinating one. Our aim is to represent our country in the best way and to be qualified," said Merkit.
Bikers and drivers will depart from Lisboa of Portugal on January 6th, 2007 for Dakar Rally. They will try to finish the race in Dakar of Senegal.
525 teams from 42 different countries will race in bike, car and truck categories in the deserts of Africa.
Dakar Rally has a speed limit of 160 km per hour to prevent accidents.
