ANKARA - Turkey and International Monetary Fund (IMF) has only four reviews left after the fifth review which expected to be approved today by the IMF Executive Board.
Reviews under Stand-by Arrangement were first considered to be 10 but this number was reduced to nine, according to A.A correspondent`s report.
Three reviews will be completed next year and the last (ninth) review will be completed in 2008, the last year of Stand-by Arrangement.
At the end of the remaining reviews, a total of about 4 billion USD would be released.
A IMF delegation is expected to visit Turkey in the first quarter of 2007 for the 6th review.
On the other hand, since structural programs related to IMF are almost completed, Letter of Intents will have two major topics in the next period, i.e. budgetary-fiscal policies and monetary policies.
Budgetary-fiscal policies will be implemented by Turkish Treasury Undersecretariat and Ministry of Finance, and monetary policies by the Turkish Central Bank.
Meanwhile, as of the beginning of next year, EU is expected to benefit from IMF`s reviews while preparing Progress Reports, as IMF program and EU economic cohesion criteria resemble each other.
