ANKARA - New Zealander Minister of Trade, Defense, Disarmament and Arms Control Philip Bruce Goff separately met Turkish Agriculture & Rural Affairs Minister Mehdi Eker and State Minister Kursad Tuzmen in Ankara on Tuesday.
Eker said that Turkish private sector was getting prepared for a stud import from New Zealand.
Informing the press during the open session of the meeting with Goff, Eker stated that New Zealand was a considerably developed country in agriculture and livestock.
Stressing that New Zealand was the biggest exporter of meat, milk and sea products in the world, Eker said Turkey could be a good trade base for New Zealand, thanks to its geographical position.
On the other hand, Tuzmen said in his meeting with Goff that he hoped that trade volume between Turkey and New Zealand amounting to 70 million USD in 2005 would increase more.
Stating that businessmen of the two countries could cooperate in air transportation and health sector, Tuzmen indicated that New Zealander businessmen should invest in Southeast Anatolia Project (GAP) region.
