ANKARA - "Turkey`s exports will probably amount to 85 billion USD at the end of this year," Turkish State Minister Kursad Tuzmen has announced.
The Union of Turkish Chambers & Commodities Exchanges (TOBB) Council Meeting started in Ankara today. Tuzmen, Industry & Trade Minister Ali Coskun and TOBB Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu attended the meeting.
Taking the floor minister Tuzmen said, "Turkey`s exports will probably amount to 85 billion USD and its imports to 125 billion USD, at the end of the year."
He also noted that they expected that income from Turkish contracting services abroad would reach 12 billion USD in 2006.
-EU`S DECISION TO SUSPEND 8 CHAPTERS-
In regard to the EU`s decision to suspend 8 of the 35 chapters of Turkey`s EU entry talks within the scope of the European Commission`s recommendation, Tuzmen said, "this decision did not surprise us. Turkey keeps paving its way with a sound determination. This decision would not cause an important problem."
