ANKARA - Office of General Staff announced on Monday that five soldiers, including one non-commissioned officer, died and four soldiers were injured in the terrorist attack in Nusaybin town of southeastern Mardin province.
A statement of the General Staff said that the terrorists attack was staged on the Nusaybin-Midyat highway.
The statement noted that a convoy, which was en route to the region to ensure security of the Turkish Petroleum Corp. (TPAO) facilities and search the area, was attacked by terrorists who had planted mines on the highway.
Halim Bulut, Nuh Kaya, Adnan Yasli, Gorkem Tas and Hasan Uysal died while Hakan Kazanc, Sinan Tunc, Umit Cebe and Gokmen Yavuz were injured in the attack, the statement pointed out.
The statement said that the injured were being sent to Diyarbakir Military Hospital.
Additional forces were sent to the region, the statement said, adding that operations were under way to capture terrorists.
