LAST WORD OF WATCHMAN
Date is November 15, 2003. The place is in front of Beth Israel synagogue in Sisli district of Istanbul. Watchman Yusuf Polat called bomber Mesut Cabuk:''you can come here. May your military expedition on behalf of Islam be a blessed one.'' Following eight minutes after this phone talk, the truck full of bombs exploded in front of the synagogue. Police caught Yusuf Polat due to this phone talk between the two men.

BRITAIN GIVES NO VISA TO TOURISTS
Britain restricted giving visas to Turkish tourists. According to the new application, Turks will not visit Britain for touristic purposes. Denmark on the other hand, put announcements on the walls of its airports warning its citizens not to go to Turkey.

HERE IS THE MAN WHO SAYS 'KILL'
Yusuf Polat was captured while trying to escape from Gurbulak border gate to Iran. He said during his interrogation that their struggle was for Islam. Polat was brought to Sisli district yesterday for recreation. He said that he explored the region for synagogue attacks and he ordered Mesut Cabuk and Gokhan Elaltuntas to launch the attacks. Polat said that he knew that synagogues would be attacked and the organization had told him that the target was Jews. He added that he did not know the targets of other two attacks. Polat was arrested at State Security Court.

DEATH IN NILE
A bus carrying Turkish tourists, who went to Egypt for Ramadan holiday, fell into a water canal due to a puncture in its tire. Three Turkish tourists Ayse Vurgun, Kasim Vurgun and Bulent Baran died and 16 people were injured.

TALIBAN FREES TURKISH ENGINEER
Turkish engineer Hasan Onal who was kidnapped by Taliban in Afghanistan on October 30 was freed. He will be given to officials of the firm he was working for this morning.

GUL: EU CONSTITUTION SHOULD REMAIN SECULAR
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul who attended the European Union (EU) Intergovernmental Conference in Naples, Italy reacted against the reference to Christianity in EU Constitution. He said that the Constitution should either remain secular or should also refer to Islam and Judaism.

KIDNAPPED TURKISH ENGINEER ONAL FREED
Turkish engineer Hasan Onal who was kidnapped by Taliban in Afghanistan was freed. A high-ranking official of Taliban called Reuters correspondent and said that Onal was freed as he was Muslim. Turkey's Kabul Ambassador Mufit Ozdes confirmed the incident.

BOMBERS ARE SUPPORTERS OF LADIN
The man who ordered the bomb attack on Beth Israel synagogue in Sisli district of Istanbul and who acted as a watchman confessed their connection with Al Qaida saying that ''we are the followers of Osama Bin Ladin.'' Security units clarified by 80-90 percent the fundamentalist terrorist organization which killed many people in Istanbul. The bombers were from the cell of Al Quida in Turkey and 15-20 persons who formed the basis of the group took part in the war in Afghanistan.

EU DOOR SHOULD NOT BE CLOSED TO TURKEY
British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said that the bomb attacks in Istanbul didn't affect the wish of Britain for Turkey to join the EU on an earlier date. German Foreign Minister Fischer said in his part that the European door should be open to Turkey.

INTENSIVE CONTACTS WITH U.S.
Both Justice Minister and Government Spokesman Cemil Cicek and Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Ugur Ziyal will hold contacts in the U.S. between 1-4 December. Cicek who will meet with his counterpart John Ashcroft, White House Spokesman Scott McClellan and Undersecretary for Political Affairs Marc Grossman, will take up fight with terrorism in his contacts. Ziyal on the other hand will attend Economic Partnership Commission meetings and meet with Undersecretary for Economic Affairs Alan Larson and representatives of Jewish institutions.

GREAT SUPPORT FROM FISCHER
German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer who was in Naples, Italy for the EU Intergovernmental Conference, extended support to Turkey's EU membership. Fischer said that ''for 40 years promise is given to Turkey. Now we should keep the doors of Europe open to Turkey while Turkey puts into practice a very resolved reform programme and when terrorist attacks claim the lives of many people in Istanbul.''

WELL DONE TO TURKISH POLICE
Turkish police which rejected the help of CIA and MOSSAD solved the attacks in Istanbul in 15 days. Turkish intelligence sections, which established a tight cooperation after four separate attacks launched on November 15 and 20, found out the identities of assailants in 24 hours. Police detained 57 people just after the attacks and transferred 51 of them to State Security Court and 20 of them were put in prison.

OUR ENGINEER FREED
Turkish engineer Hasan Onal, who was kidnapped by Taliban in Afghanistan, was freed. A Taliban official, who called Reuters correspondent, said that Onal who was given to tribe leaders last night would be brought to the firm he was working for today.

BOMBERS TO HAVE ATTACKED SYNAGOGUE FROM FRONT DOOR
Istanbul Security stated that Yusuf Polat had ordered bomb attack on Beth Israel Synagogue in Sisli district. Polat was detained while planning to escape from Agri Gurbulak border gate to Iran. Polat who had explored the region in the morning of the attacks ordered Mesut Cabuk to use back door of the synagogue as the street near the front door was very narrow.

FISCHER: WE CANNOT SLAM THE DOOR AGAINST TURKEY
German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer blamed German opposition which is against European Union (EU) membership of Turkey and said that they could not slam the door against Turkey. Fischer added that Turkey had the same values with Europe, noting that they should keep the door open to Turkey not only for Copenhagen criteria but also for common European interests.
