WANTED FOR 8 YEARS
Habib Aktas from eastern Mardin province, who is claimed to be the assailant of bomb attack against HSBC Bank at Levent district of Istanbul, has been wanted for eight years. Aktas was educated in Pakistan after high school and then had a military training for two years in Afghanistan. His name was also mentioned in Hezbullah cases before the State Security Court.

COUNCIL OF EUROPE DECIDES CONCESSION FOR TERRORISM
Council of Europe, of which Turkey is a member since 1949, took a decision similar to UEFA's following the terrorist attacks in Istanbul and announced that it would limit some of its activities in Turkey. The Council has announced that it postponed some activities which were planned to be fulfilled in Turkey until the end of 2003 due to terrorism.

BOMBER AKTAS WANTED FOR EIGHT YEARS
Habib Aktas who is claimed to be the bomber in the lorry that hit HSBC Bank in Levent district of Istanbul claiming the lives of many people, was wanted since 1995 due to his connection with the terrorist organization Hezbollah. He received military training in Afghanistan for two years.

ANOTHER BLOW FROM EUROPE
Council of Europe which extended support to Turkey by condemning the terrorist attacks in Istanbul showed its hypocrisy. Council of Europe started to act like those who give the image as if Turkey is not safe and it postponed its activities in Turkey till the end of the year. The personnel of COE could only come to Turkey by getting special permission.

UEFA GIVES TRUMP TO TERRORISM
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan reacted harshly to the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). He said that this was a kind of decision which paved the way for international terrorism to include UEFA among the environments which it used to make its voice be heard.

GUL: ENCOURAGE US, WE WILL NOT RETURN FROM OUR PATH
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul asked for support from European foreign ministers to encourage Turkey in the European Union (EU) Summit to be held between December 11 and 12. Gul said during EU Intergovernmental Conference in Naples that Turkey was determined in fight against terrorism and it would not return from its path to EU.

COUNCIL OF EUROPE AFRAID OF TERRORISM
Council of Europe decided to postpone some of its activities which it had planned to made in Turkey following the terrorist attacks in Istanbul. Many human rights programs of the Council in Turkey would be postponed due to this decision. Also British Embassy restricted its visa procedures.

DECISION OF UEFA TO BE BROUGHT ONTO EU AGENDA
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the decision of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) which carried the matches of Turkish teams in Champions League to neutral field would be brought onto agenda of the European Union (EU) Summit that would be held on December 12 in Brussels. He added that the decision of UEFA was political, not related with sports.

GUL IN NAPLES
Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul who attends the Intergovernmental Conference in Naples, Italy is expected to have many bilateral contacts. Gul will particularly focus on the issue of terrorism in his bilateral contacts although the issue is not on the agenda of the conference.

UEFA'S DECISION IS POLITICAL
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the decision of UEFA was not a decision related to sports, and it would unfortunately serve the targets of terrorism. Erdogan noted that the decision of UEFA was political, adding that Turkey would bring the issue to the agenda of EU Summit in Brussels on December 12.

TURKEY DOES NOT DESERVE THAT
Europe which tries to suspend Turkey's membership by excuse of terrorism, also cancels its various organizations in Turkey. European Parliament (EP) which rejected the proposal of giving the status of 'special neighbourhood' to Turkey instead of EU membership two months ago, recently approved the same proposal of Italian parliamentarian Napoletano by showing the terrorist attacks in Istanbul as an excuse. Council of Europe also postponed some of its activities in Turkey.

VERHEUGEN:I OPPOSE DECISION OF EP
EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen got angry with the decision of European Parliament (EP) about Turkey. Verheugen said that this attitude was not in line with the policy determined by the EU Commission and governments, adding that he opposed the decision.

MANY TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS TAKE PLACE IN RAMADAN HOLIDAY AGAIN
Despite the warnings and the measures taken, the number of people who died in traffic accidents in Turkey during Ramadan Holiday reached 96. In addition 90 persons were wounded.

TURKEY RANKED FOURTH IN UNEMPLOYMENT
Turkey is ranked the fourth among OECD countries in the list of unemployment. According to a report prepared by the trade union Hak-Is, the unemployment rate in OECD countries is 7.3 percent, it is 8.8 percent in European Union and 10 percent in Turkey.
